The Indian team has started its journey towards defending the Champions Trophy title but according to reports all isn’t well in the Indian camp. The Indian captain, Virat Kohli, and the head coach, Anil Kumble, have reportedly had a spat regarding the selection of Kuldeep Yadav.

Things aren’t quite working well for Kumble with BCCI as well, as the BCCI has invited applications for the post of the head coach, and is trying to lure in big names from Indian cricket for this coveted job.

Anil Kumble and the BCCI haven’t seen eye to eye in the past month, as BCCI feels that Kumble’s salary demands are a bit too much. Kumble has allegedly demanded a salary of 7.5 crores per annum and also wants a hike in the salary of ‘Grade A’ players.

And ever since that happened there have been reports of uneasiness within the dressing room, especially between Kumble and Kohli.

Apparently Kumble wanted to include Kuldeep Yadav in the playing XI in the third test of the Australia series, but Kohli was not ready to draft in the young chinaman at such a crucial juncture in the series. Kohli had his way then, but Kumble made sure Kuldeep was part of the XI for the next game(when Kohli was injured).

Kumble’s decision worked wonders as Kuldeep picked up 4 wickets in the first innings, completely bamboozling the Australian batsmen.

“This may or may not be the reason. But we believe the people in the corridors of power have been told that Kumble is overbearing and doesn’t give freedom to the players. It’s sad that aspersions are cast on a legend of Indian cricket,” said a BCCI official to The Hindu

Hopefully these issues are resolved, if they exist in the first place that is.
