During the recently concluded fourth Test match between India and England in Ahmedabad, India beat England by an innings and 25 runs to win the four-match series 3-1 and top the points table of the inaugural ICC World Test Championship.
While crucial knocks from Rohit Sharma, Washington Sundar and Axar Patel had put India on the front foot, Ravichandran Ashwin and Patel picking individual five-wicket hauls powered them to a victory today.

Having said that, it was wicket-keeper batsman Rishabh Pant’s third Test century which turned the tables for the hosts yesterday. Batting in two different shades as per contrasting situations, Pant was declared the ‘Man of the Match’ for the second time in his Test career for scoring 101 (118) under pressure and being part of four dismissals behind the stumps.
“I think the drills have helped and my confidence has helped; transferring it from my batting to my keeping. This was a very important innings especially with the team under pressure,” Pant told Star Sports during the post-match presentation ceremony.
“We were in a tough situation at 146-6 and there’s nothing better than performing when the team needs you the most. If I get the chance to reverse-flick a fast bowler again, I definitely would.”
Rishabh Pant jokes with Harsha Bhogle
Apart from his hard-hitting batting, Pant’s fans also await his hilarious comments from behind the stumps so much so that there have been suggestions of uninterrupted stump mic audio broadcast when he is keeping up to the stumps.
With the 23-year old player’s jolly side known to everyone now, he registered another such instance while speaking to seasoned commentator Harsha Bhogle during the presentation ceremony. When Bhogle highlighted how commentators receive criticism for calling the game when Pant is keeping up to the wickets, the latter instantly responded with a witty comment.

“Ab sir yeh mera compliment hai ya thoda aapko problem ho raha hai toh aap improve karo [Sir, it is a compliment for me. You should improve a bit if you have a problem with it],” Pant said in a hilarious manner.
