Kyrie Irving wasn’t in good mood after the Celtics went down to the Knicks in a closely contested game.

Post the game, Kyrie found himself amidst a little thanksgiving related controversy, when he shouted out loud ‘I don’t celebrate thanksgiving, f**k thanksgiving’.

The Celtics crowd did not take the performance against the Knicks too well, as a few boos rang around the stadium post the game, as Celtics have now lost 9 games in the their opening 18 matches.

Kyrie realised the kind of sporting tradition that the city of Boston has, and the expectations of the people from the Celtics in the city.

And when the team doesn’t perform as per their potential, the crowd does have a reason to be upset.

“This is the NBA. Fans deserve to see a great show,” Kyrie Irving said.

“They deserve to see balls going in the rim and us getting stops. Kind of Celtic Pride plays. I understand what you’re saying in terms of it being TD (Garden) but they expect us to play hard. And we deserve that as players and our coaching staff and everyone.” he added.

Kyrie then went onto clarify his comments about thanksgiving, trying to get the controversy under control, as his statement were being blown out of proportions.

He emphasised that he did not mean disrespect to the holiday and loved spending time with family during the festive season.

“I spoke w/ frustration after last nights game and spoke words that shouldn’t be in a professional setting no matter what.

“Meant no disrespect to the Holiday and those who celebrate it respectfully. I’m grateful for the time We all can share with our families. We are always ONE.” Kyrie clarified.

It has caused a little controversy for Kyrie too.

Do you think Celtics can turn it around and go on a winning streak in the next few games?
