LeBron James has been finding his feet in a Lakers shirt this season, trying to understand the system and how the entire team can move forward in their quest to winning that elusive NBA title.
If LeBron manages to win a NBA title with Lakers, it could help him in establishing some foothold in that ever present ‘GOAT debate’.
However, LeBron not only has to work on how the team functions but on a major skill of his as well.
LeBron James dished out his worst performance of the season last night in the game against the Wizards, one where he managed to score just 13 points. Lakers ended up losing the game by 18 points.
LeBron also managed to miss 3 out of his 6 attempted free throws. James’ free throw shooting has been really off this season, and it has only gone worse as the season has progressed.
In December, LeBron is averaging 0.618 from the free throw line, a figure that is just not acceptable, especially according to Fox analyst Shannon Sharpe.
LeBron’s clutch free throwing shooting was way off in that game against the Spurs, wherein he missed two during the dying stages, which ultimately resulted a loss for the Lakers.

“Bron, you’ve got to improve this ft shooting. This is utterly ridiculous.” he tweeted.

Skip Bayless too had criticised LeBron’s free throw shooting when he had put the Lakers in danger of a loss against the Hawks.
“Since LeBron James’ 2nd year in the NBA – he is in his 16th year – I have been saying he is the least clutch superstar free-throw shooter I have ever seen.” he said.
“I’ve been consistent in this and he has consistently backed me up in this. People say, ‘Why are you people nit-picking LeBron James?’ This is not a nit I’m picking – this is a major flaw.

“He is an unclutch liability at the late-game free throw line and he always has been. He’ll resort to making the right play pass to get the ball out of his hands and usually won’t drive the basketball.
“He’s always been a below-par free-throw shooter. He’s got a shaky stroke from the free-throw line. ” he added.
He then went onto say that LeBron wouldn’t be part of the GOAT debate because of this very reason
“This is why LeBron James is disqualified from the GOAT discussion. There is only one GOAT, he belongs in a sentence by himself, Michael Jordan.” he said.
“When you’re a liability at the late-game free throw line, you can’t be in this discussion. You’re out. Over and out for good. It’s not just this year, it’s been for like 14 years.” he added.
