Antoine Griezmann announced yesterday that he will be staying at Atletico Madrid, which has led to Barca looking at alternative options.
After French superstar Antoine Greizmann made his decision to stay at Atletico Madrid, Lionel Messi and Barcelona have started looking elsewhere for a replacement.
Several news reports suggest that Barcelona are looking to sign their former star Thiago from Bayern Munich for a reduced price.
Ter Stegen and Messi suggested to the Barcelona board to sign former Barcelona midfielder and currently Bayern’s ace midfielder Thiago Alcantara. Thiago was touted as the next Xavi before the midfielder made his move to the Bavarian capital.
However, since the departure of Pep Guardiola from Munich, the midfielder has had a reduced playing time.
“I would like to have Thiago at Barca. His playing style suits us and from our viewpoint he is an interesting player,” Ter Stegen told Sport Bild.
“Thiago is a special type of player. He definitely would offer us different possibilities. If a transfer happened, it would be brilliant both for him and for us.”

The 27-year-old midfielder was sold to Bayern Munich in July 2013 for £21million. Since then, in 96 appearances for the German champions, the midfielder has scored 12 goals.
According to Don Balon, Lionel Messi is worried that rivals Real Madrid will swoop for the £76m-rated international, and has told the club to get his signature.
Messi’s statement came right after Bayern Munich’s CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge hinted at the sale of the midfielder after his reduced appearance for the team.
Rummenigge confirms no approach:
Karl-Heinz Rummenigge (Bayern’s Managing Director) confirmed recently that Thiago may depart the club since there are “many midfielders in the team” and they only have “3 or 4 positions for 9 men.”

“No club has contacted us, nor Thiago. We still plan with him,” Rummenigge told Sport Bild.
“However, I must say the midfield is stacked. We have 3 or 4 places for 9 players. The squad is great, but if we sell players, I don’t rule out that we will do something in the market.” he concluded.
However, with Real Madrid have set their sights on the midfielder, Barcelona would be looking to get Thiago at a reduced price with their previous connection to the midfielder.
