Lionel Messi makes contention for the assist of the season after setting up 17-year-old Ansu Fati for a sensational goal against Levante.

Barcelona had a glorious night against Levante as the Catalans conveniently won the game against Levante by 2-1 in the 22nd game-week game of La Liga.

Ansu Fati, the 17-year-old player was recently promoted into the first-team setup this season and gave sensational performances to seal his inclusion in the first team.

Last night, Fati was all the difference between Barcelona and Levante, as the young prodigy scored a brace in quick succession to earn a victory for Barcelona, which still keeps them in contention for the title victory.

But it was Lionel Messi, the stalwart of Barcelona, who set Fati up for a brace last night, out of which one of the goal really stand out, the first goal by Fati in the 31st minute.

Frenkie de Jong laid a pass to the Argentine who took a few touches before dispatching a stunning sweeping through ball to Fati who coolly slotted past the Levante keeper.

The ball by Messi stunned all the viewers, as the sweeping ball by him easily found Fati while also penetrated Levante’s defence. It was so brilliant that many fans went onto claim it as the “assist of the season”.

Messi and Fati’s lethal duo did not limit till here as they once again combined for Barcelona’s second goal of the game as the club captain set up the 17-year-old sensation.

Fati on his debut surprised with his skill work and since then became a key figure in the squad. Right now he is getting minutes with Luis Suarez ruled out with a knee injury till March and Ousmane Dembele yet to gain match fitness.
