Lionel Messi having more Ballon D’Or awards than Cristiano Ronaldo frustrates Maurizio Sarri. The Juventus manager admitted recently.

Lionel Messi became the first person to win 6 Ballon D’Or awards when he picked up the prestigious award over Virgil Van Dijk last month. In the process he overtook Cristiano Ronaldo, with whom he was on par earlier.

Cristiano Ronaldo earned plenty of titles after his move to the Italian club. However, his on-field performance saw a dip. Lionel Messi on the other hand 51 goals in 50 games last season to beat his eternal rival to the prestigious award.

Many believe that this is the end of the race for the Ballon D’Or between the titans of football. However, Juventus manager Maurizio Sarri is convinced that he can help Ronaldo level with Messi and also admitted his annoyance with the Argentine having the upper hand in the award race.

“I would like to help Cristiano win the sixth Ballon d’Or first,” Sarri told a press conference.

“It’s really annoying thinking that someone won more [Ballons d’Or] than him.

“I think about him and I think helping him, it is my goal and the goal of the team. It is right for him.”

This season, both Ronaldo and Messi have scored 16 goals each. The Portuguese has made 23 appearances and has 3 assists to his name. Messi on the other hand is faring slightly better, having played 3 less games while bagging 9 assists.
