Lionel Messi Injury: Barcelona Confirm Player Set To Miss Showdown Against Eibar: The player’s ongoing injury predicament is set to rule him out for the club’s upcoming outing
Having recently suffered an ankle injury, Lionel Messi is all set to be out of action for atleast the course of the side’s immediate clash. The club confirmed that their top scorer would be out of action for the club’s fixture against Eibar on Tuesday.
The injury is yet to settle down with Messi being termed unviable to even return to training before his side’s forthcoming scrimmage against Eibar. While there’s no date been circled on for the player’s return, reports suggest he could be out for the club’s fixture against Huesca in 2021.
Messi is currently undergoing treatment on his right ankle with the player said to be recovering well. The club has over the course of this season treated Messi with extreme care with manager Koeman leaving him behind in Spain for two of the club’s Champions League fixture.
This will be the first time he misses any match due to injury this season with the player being said to make a return to training starting Wednesday.
The diminutive player has once again been the fulcrum of his side’s attack with him top scoring for the club at the moment. Although a magnitude of those goals have come from penalties, Messi has looked the likeliest to score for the club in any given encounter.
While Barcelona should manage to cope without Messi in their contest against Eibar, the club won’t take things for granted. They have hit a real rut this season with the side currently staring at an 8 point deficit from league leaders Atletico Madrid, one the side has never looked like erasing.
The club’s horrendous performances have seen Messi emerge as a transfer proposition at the end of the season. Although the player sat down to claim he was happy at the club, his foregone fracas with the side back this year and zealousness to depart the side have seen rumours spurt up about his departure.
