It is good to be Lionel Messi right now!

Messi has had a wonderful week in both his personal and professional life. He recently signed a lucrative new contract making him one the highest paid players in the world.

Then he married his long term partner Antonella Roccuzzo in a grand ceremony that was followed by millions all around the world.

Now Messi is enjoying the last few days of his vacation, before he heads back to Barcelona for the pre-season campaign.

Messi was extremely disappointed with Barcelona’s season last year, as the Catalan side had one of their poorest campaigns in recent memory.

Things were made worse when their arch rivals Real Madrid won both the Spanish league as well as the Champions league.

This summer, the Barcelona board has made Marco Verratti their priority signing. The club has been publicly courting the Italian and is desperate to add him to their ranks.

Ander Herrera is the proposed plan B for the Barcelona board. But the Spaniard’s superb performances last season mean that Manchester United would not want to let go of the diminutive midfielder.

If neither of these two options work out, Barcelona are looking at signing either Oriol Romeu or Paulinho.

But Lionel Messi is against this as he does not want Barcelona to sign either of these two players.

The Argentine does not believe that they are of the requisite quality and would prefer if Andre Gomes, Rafinha and Dennis Suarez get more game time.

Barcelona will be wary against upsetting Messi, as they do not want a situation in which Messi would want to leave the club.

So keeping Lionel Messi happy must always be the priority!
