The Barca star wants his Argentine teammate at FC Barcelona.

Lionel Messi has enjoyed a few memorable times with Argentina’s national team, minus an international trophy. One such teammate with whom the Barcelona captain has been able to rejoice moments is Cristian Pavon.

The duo has been together for Argentina since the last one year, but has been instrumental for whatever success the Argentine’s enjoyed during that spell. It included nothing major but a World Cup qualifier against Venezuela in a do or die match which Argentina managed to grab a win in.

Now Lionel Messi also enjoyed a World Cup along with his compatriot in Russia, which was rather short lived as compared to expectations from a lot of football fans. Cristian Pavon’s performances caught the eye of 31 year old Messi who has now asked Barcelona to sign him.

Boca Juniors from Argentina’s premier division own Pavon and are reluctant in letting him go. Hence, the Argentinian giants have decided to offer their candidate a bumper contract which will include a release clause of above £60 million, which is in excess of his £37.5 million earlier.

Also on Arsenal’s radar since the last week or so, Pavon has a decision to make with his long-term career in mind. Having seen his World Cup performances, it is fair to say that Pavon no doubt is a fantastic player, but still needs some time before he can manage to break into the regular starting eleven of a European giant like either Arsenal or Barcelona.

Nonetheless, Messi wanting Pavon at Barcelona is something that the 22 year old winger would’ve dreamt of as a child, and on his national team captain’s recommendation, it wouldn’t come as a surprise should Barcelona make an approach for their prime player’s national teammate.
