Jurgen Klopp had explained that his side was strong enough as it is and he couldn’t find any area of concern that needed to be immediately addressed. Liverpool currently lead the Premier League table with an 8-point difference over the next best side and have proven that Klopp was indeed right. However, it seems that the possibility of purchasing a certain young talent has turned their heads.
Liverpool in the race for £100m rated striker after he expresses desire to leave club
The Daily Mail have reported that Borussia Dortmund winger Jadon Sancho has expressed his desire to leave the club. The teenager is seen as one of the brightest prospects in European football. However, recent developments at the club has left him unsettled.
Last month, Sancho was dropped from the side and fined £86,000 for returning late from International duty. He came under criticism from Sporting Director Michael Zorc and was made to train by himself. However, the incident last weekend was the final straw for the young England International.
In the match vs Bayern Munich on Saturday, Sancho was substituted after just 36 minutes. Manager Lucian Favre explained his decision after the match:
“He was not injured, he trained yesterday. I had to go on what I was seeing and, to be honest, it was not good enough.”
Liverpool have taken notice of the situation. They are now reportedly in the running for his signatures along with the likes of Manchester United, PSG, Barcelona and Real Madrid. However, regardless of the player’s intention to leave, Dortmund value Sancho at more than £100million!
Not spending any money this summer means that Liverpool likely have the cash to go all out. However, one must consider that Sancho left Manchester City looking for first team chances. Would he like to go to a side where he would have to compete with Salah, Mane and Firmino? Also, who does Klopp drop to fit the extremely talented youngster?
