Liverpool Transfer News: Barcelona been advised to hire Roberto Firmino from Liverpool and to snub their long term target Lautaro Martinez.
Barcelona needs to bolster their attack in the summer transfer window in order to find a suitable replacement for the ageing Luis Suarez, who is counting his final days at the Nou Camp.
Since long, Barcelona has been targeting to acquire Lautaro Martinez from Inter Milan, but according to a report by Liverpool Echo, former Barcelona and Stoke City forward Bojan Krkric believes Firmino would be a cannier purchase.
“Inter Milan do not usually take the initiative and that makes me think that Lautaro could occupy an area at Barca that is not naturally his,(That is) something that would certainly be a shame,” he said.
“If you allow me a name, I would bet more on Roberto Firmino: a link player, with a lot of presence and great mobility. I do not intend that this reflection be interpreted as a refusal to sign Martinez,”
“But I understand that his profile must be analysed very well because it would be unforgivable that, as happened with Antoine Griezmann, we sign a striker to put him on the wing and then complain that it doesn’t work.”
Firmino has been speculated to go down in pecking order at Liverpool if the Reds sign Timo Werner this summer. On the other hand, it isn’t certain whether Barcelona would find Firmino fitting for the club.
The Brazilian International is more known for his build-up play and not prolific scoring, Barcelona would be looking for someone who could put in goals regularly like Suarez, so that the team doesn’t rely only on Lionel Messi for it.

Hence, it doesn’t seem likely that the Blaugranas will make a move for Firmino by snubbing Martinez, who is far younger than Firmino and suits the profile at the club.
