While Real Madrid are still one of the most prestigious clubs in the world, Liverpool can rightfully lay claim to the title of the best team in the world right now. In the last 10 months, the Reds have won the Champions League, UEFA Super Cup and the Club World Cup.

Jurgen Klopp calls Kylian Mbappe’s dad to get ahead in transfer race

According to French outlet Le10 Sport, Jurgen Klopp has contacted Kylian Mbappe’s father in a bid to gauge his son’s interest in joining Liverpool. The German wants to know the Frenchman’s intentions for this summer with the transfer window nearing by the day.

The Reds will still have to fork out at least £174m if they are to bring Mbappe from PSG in the summer. However, a former member of the European Parliament has predicted that football players will be worth a fraction of their former values due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Daniel Cohn-Bendit, a member of French political party Europe Ecology – The Greens, believes superstars such as Mbappe could be worth as little as €40m (£35m) after the outbreak subsides.
