Liverpool Transfer News: Jurgen Klopp keen on Nabil Fekir again as Lyon name price tag for their Skipper

Liverpool are serious about Nabil Fekir and could get their man in the summer window.

Liverpool agreed terms with Lyon and Nabil Fekir in last summer, but the transfer did not go through for some reason whatsoever. Twelve months on, Jurgen Klopp has not moved out of this move, as the German remains keen on the attacking midfielder.

The French International’s deal fell through before the World Cup, but Lyon president Jean Michel-Aulas has confirmed his departure in this window. With just a year left in his contract, the French side are effectively looking to bag money rather than letting him run down his contract at Groupama Stadium.

Similar to Virgil Van Dijk and Naby Keita at their old clubs, Nabil Fekir’s head was turned and did not have a proper season with Lyon. He made 39 appearances, scoring 12 times and assisting nine times throughout the season.

However, a fresh report from Romain Collet-Gaudin, who works for Canal Plus and Euro Sport, has claimed that Liverpool are reigniting their interest on Nabil Fekir again.

The Reds paid £52.4 million, which nearly accounts to €57 million last summer. But, Lyon are set to demand €50 million, a fee which is deemed exorbitant – especially with a year left in his contract.

However, Liverpool are confident about landing him for a fee of €30 million in this window. Despite Lyon’s demand, Klopp and the player have a mutual understanding and the transfer will go through in the next few weeks.

The reigning Champions League winners would welcome the move for Nabil Fekir, as he would add more firepower to the frontline. Apart from Daniel Sturridge’s departure, the frontline and midfield will stay put at Anfield.

Manchester City and Bayern Munich are the other clubs to keep an eye on him. But, the Reds are long-term admirers of the Lyon Skipper and could snap him.

There are many outgoings, but that is not dependent on Nabil Fekir’s deal. The Reds have earned the highest in the Premier League last season, beating Manchester City to that list.

Here’s how Twitter has reacted..

What’s next?

Liverpool will step up their pursuit and lure him to Anfield in this window.
