Liverpool Transfer News: Jurgen Klopp to rival Arsenal and Barcelona for La Liga star

Jurgen Klopp is set to rival Arsenal and Barcelona for Junior Firpo from Real Betis.

Liverpool are set to make a bid for Real Betis left-back Junior Firpo in the upcoming days. The full-back will cost £45 million, but the Reds are keen on the defender who could leave Benito Villamarin.

Jurgen Klopp is battling against the side, which is personified based on perfection. Tiny margins have come back to haunt their league drought last season and they are set to splash huge cash in the summer in order to keep in touching distance with Manchester City, as confirmed by the Reds gaffer.

Alberto Moreno, who will leave the club as a free-agent, was of no use last season. He was rarely featuring for the side and even James Milner was preferred in the Spaniard’s primary position, when required. Since Andy Robertson’s pre-eminence, the former Sevilla defender has been told to warm the bench, most often than not.

His departure does not leave a huge hole in the side, but the Reds have a chance to upgrade that position, needing a proper understudy to the Scottish International. The Guardian says that Liverpool are not inhibited for Real Betis full-back Junior Firpo’s £45 million price tag.

The Spanish International made 29 appearances last season, and went on to bag three goals and five assists. Since most of the creativity comes from their full-backs, Klopp sees Firpo as the exact backup to Robertson. Additionally, the 22-year-old is flexible through the attacking flank of the left side – providing some needed rest for Sadio Mane as well.

Firpo is flexible with Quique Setien’s system, who has used him in the back three and back four too. He has been tracked by plenty of top sides over the last year, including Arsenal and Barcelona.

With the price tag coming into consideration, the Gunners have a cheap alternative in Celtic’s Keiran Tierney. Barcelona, on the other hand, are concentration on other positions, but left-back needs strengthening because of the over-reliance on Jordi Alba.

Here’s how Twitter has reacted..

What’s next?

Liverpool would desire to welcome Junior Firpo, although it remains to be seen if he would be ready to play a bit-part role.
