Liverpool transfer news: La Liga giants want Reds midfielder, Jurgen Klopp sets price

La Liga giants have reportedly set their sights on Liverpool’s midfielder to bolster their squad.

Liverpool could lose their on-loan midfielder Marko Grujic in the summer transfer window after Atletico Madrid enter the race. The Serbian has been a total misfit at Merseyside struggling to break into the starting lineup which prompted him to go out on loan to Herta Berlin last summer.

The 23-year-old has taken the German top flight by storm with consistent displays on the field. He is not only the best player for Herta Berlin, but regarded as one of the best midfielders in the Bundesliga this campaign. He has made 19 appearances, scoring four times and setting up his teammate once in his joy-filled stint at Germany.

Witnessing his salient rise with Herta Berlin, Diego Simeone has added him to the shortlist, according to ESPN FC. The Argentine International sees Grujic as an ideal replacement for Rodri, who looks Manchester City bound. The Spanish outfit are ready to let their midfielder leave for a fee of £70 million, but the major stumbling block is Liverpool’s asking price. The Reds are demanding £34.5 million for the youngster who has not featured for them regularly.

The Serbian International was Jurgen Klopp’s first signing at Liverpool, but he has failed to hit the ground running at Anfield. Having made just 14 appearances till January 2018, Grujic intended to move on loan until the end of the season. He played an integral role in Cardiff City’s promotion before opting to join Herta Berlin last summer.

Marko Grujic has been provided with the free role at Herta Berlin, but things could change if he opts to join Atletico Madrid. Diego Simeone wants his players to be tactically astute and work hard up and down the pitch tirelessly.

What’s next?

After securing the much-needed victory against Cardiff City to reclaim the top spot, the Reds will be hoping for Manchester City to drop points against their rivals Manchester United on Wednesday. Despite the result, Liverpool will be eyeing to win all three games and will play Huddersfield Town at Anfield on Friday night.
