Liverpool Transfer News: Liverpool seek to capture Manchester United target

Liverpool Transfer News: Liverpool seek to capture Manchester United’s target Kalidou Koulibaly from Napoli to bolster their defense.

Liverpool have openly declared that they will hire new players to bolster the squad to achieve new laurels, and to maintain their glorious spree.

Hence, according to a report by the Daily Star, the Reds are set to target Kalidou Koulibaly from Napoli to pair him with Liverpool starlet Virgil Van Dijk.

Moreover it is also suggested that probable exit of Dejan Lovren is set to make a move away from Anfield this summer, hence, it leaves a vacancy at defense. While Joel Matip and Joe Gomez battle for the regular game-time, Koulibaly will be a definite upgrade over the latter two.

On other hand, Manchester United are also targeting to hire the services of the 27-year-old defender, as underwhelming resources at the back in the Red Devils squad have propelled Ole Solskjaer to look for quality reinforcements.

Thus, Manchester United reportedly posed major interest in Koulibaly ahead of next season. However, Napoli rejected all the offers by Manchester United.

Additionally, now it seems that Manchester United can further face a stiff competition from domestic arch-rivals Liverpool, who also have this year’s Champions League medal to lure the Senegalese defender.

Both the clubs have major financial resources to meet the demands of Napoli, but hiring Koulibaly would be a huge task in itself as Napoli feel that the player is a vital lieutenant to the team.

Moreover, Napoli manager rank him among the best defenders in the world. Even though Manchester United offered several lucrative offers to Napoli, the Italian giants declined all.

Thus, there is a stiff competition between both the teams for this pursuit, but Napoli seem to agree with none of the two clubs presently. Thus, it would be better, if both the teams look for other prospects to hire this summer.

What’s next?

Koulibaly will soon leave for African Cup of nations, if he has to move, then either it will be announced this week or after the pre-season.
