Lucas Torreira at Arsenal: The Uruguayan midfielder has enjoyed life at Arsenal, and opened up on living in London to Uruguayan media.

Arsenal have enjoyed life under Unai Emery so far. The Gunners endured a tough start to their Premier League season when they lost both of their opening games to Manchester City and Chelsea.

However, the Gunners haven’t conceded three points since. Arsenal are on a 16-game unbeaten run. However, a recent run of three consecutive draw games in the Premier League have pushed them to fifth position in the table.

Lucas Torreira joined Arsenal this season after impressive performances in the World Cup for Uruguay in Russia. He has emerged as one of the top players for Arsenal ever since he signed for the club, and has been praised by fans and pundits alike for his incredible work ethic.

While Torreira returns to Uruguay for the international break, he talked about his life in London, sharing a hilarious haircut incident.

Lucas Torreira opened up on his transfer to Arsenal, and revealed the first Arsenal player to greet him after the transfer was completed.

“Once the World Cup was over I travelled rapidly to London to sign a contract and perform all of the paperwork,” Torreira began. “When I got to the club, I greeted all the technical staff and the people who work there. I was approached by Emi Martinez, an Argentine goalkeeper, and we chatted for a bit.”

Torreira also reflected on the diversity in the dressing room, stating that there are players from different countries, which helps him understand better.

“In our locker room, there are players of many nationalities, many languages: English, German, French, Italian, Spanish. They speak everything a little bit. With some, I communicate in English and others in Italian. Little by little I’m dropping some words in English; this is good.

Torreira also shared a hilarious story about his haircut, which was one of the experiences that went horribly bad for the midfielder.

“In my first few weeks in London, while living in the hotel, I realized that I had very long hair, then through a teammate, I called a hairdresser,” Torreira explained.

“The man came to the hotel and cut my hair. I looked very cute.

“The issue is that when I went to pay, I didn’t have pounds, just euros and dollars. I didn’t know how to pay and I asked him: ‘Can I pay in dollars?’. “Yes, of course,” he said. I thought I’d pay about $30 more or less for a haircut. When he said $100, I wanted to kill myself. I never called him again.”
