“Made The Bucks A Little Worse”: Damian Lillard's Mammoth Trade For Jrue Holiday To Join Giannis Antetokounmpo On The Bucks Has Skip Bayless Worried

After over two months of demanding a trade, Damian Lillard is finally dealt away. The Miami Heat, the Chicago Bulls, and the Toronto Raptors were among the favorites to land the sharpshooter. However, in an admittedly shocking turn of events, the Milwaukee Bucks entered and won the race in the eleventh hour. The entire basketball world is raving about the blockbuster trade. But Skip Bayless is among the few people who think that replacing Jrue Holiday for Lillard has actually made them slightly worse.

A few weeks ago, Giannis Antetokounmpo worried several Wisconsin fans by going on a little outburst. The Greek Freak was completely candid in stating that he’d not re-sign with the Bucks if they weren’t competing for the NBA Championship. So, acquiring Damian Lillard, one of the best shot-creating guards around, certainly seems to be the best way to retain Antetokounmpo.

Skip Bayless believes that the Milwaukee Bucks are slightly worse with Damian Lillard on the roster

The Milwaukee Bucks pulled off a pretty incredible trade. Adding Damian Lillard to the roster at the expense of Jrue Holiday, Grayson Allen, and a few picks seems like a huge win for Giannis Antetokounmpo and Co.

As soon as the details of the deal were reported, every fan and analyst lauded the Bucks for strengthening their roster. The All-Star trio of Lillard, Antetokounmpo, and Khris Middleton, is likely capable enough to win the title. However, Skip Bayless believes that the Bucks were better off with Jrue Holiday on the squad.

Taking it to X (Formerly Twitter), the Fox Sports analyst boldly claimed that with the addition of Dame, the Bucks have, in fact, become worse.

Trading Holiday for Lillard just made the Bucks a little worse.

Jrue Holiday was acquired by Milwaukee in 2020 and had an immediate impact, helping Giannis Antetokounmpo lead the team to a title win. Losing Holiday, who brought his two-way capabilities to the table, will admittedly be a huge blow to the Bucks’ defense.

With that being said, Adrian Griffin’s boys are now one of the biggest offensive powerhouses in the league. Of course, the likes of Antetokounmpo and Brook Lopez will feel a slight bit more pressure on the defensive end of the floor.

Following the Bucks’ first-round loss against the Miami Heat in the past few playoffs, Dame retweeted a photoshopped image of Antetokounmpo in the Blazers’ uniform. It’s bizarre how the sharpshooter manifested playing alongside Giannis. Of course, it was in a way that he perhaps didn’t expect when he did it.

Aside from this, as it turns out, Skip Bayless isn’t the only one unhappy about the Damian Lillard trade. Jimmy Butler appears to be a bit miffed by it too.

“Y’all need to look into the Bucks for tampering”: Jimmy Butler

The Miami Heat were the strong favorites to land Damian Lillard. Other than Jimmy Butler constantly luring Dame to the Heat, the 6ft 2″ guard’s camp also made it clear that his preferred destination was to play for the South Florida side.

Shocking the entire league with their abrupt acquisition, Jimmy G Buckets cannot fathom the Bucks’ win. As soon as the deal was finalized, the 2023 Eastern Conference Finals MVP asked the NBA to investigate for potential tampering.

While the Bucks must be satisfied with the deal, it’ll be interesting to see which player will Pat Riley now make a push for.
