Man United Transfer News: Manchester United made an offer of €70 million for Kalidou Koulibaly to Napoli, which they probably cannot deny.
Manchester United is on a lookout for recruits in defence and since last 2-3 summers attempting to get Kalidou Koulibaly at the Old Trafford but Napoli’s demands were too high to even consider.
Now, according to a report by Gazzetta Dello Sport report that after spending €180m between January and July, Napoli now needs to bring in €150m before the window closes.
Therefore, the Italian giants will have to lose crucial players from the squad, and the report further states that Manchester United is ready to make a €70 million bid for the highly-rated centre back.
And due to the financial crunch, Napoli can’t refuse the deal, considering, they have little to push the price even further. Although, it can also be speculated that Manchester United’s name is being used to flush out interest from other clubs.
Manchester City will probably not enter in the race, as they have already hired Nathan Ake from Bournemouth on a £41 million deal, but Chelsea’s pursuit for defensive reinforcement is still not over.
However, if Chelsea still goes ahead with Kai Havertz, then they will not be having enough amount in surplus to afford Koulibaly’s signing.
Manchester United’s defensive department needs reform
Manchester United bolstered their defence last season after signing Aaron Wan Bissaka and Harry Maguire, but there is still a room for improvement.
Manchester United surely need another good quality centre-back. Currently, they have Victor Lindelof, Phil Jones, Marcos Rojo, Eric Bailly and returning from Roma Chris Smalling at that position.

Out of the 6 listed defenders, 5 need to leave the club to generate finances and offload the deadwood. Then only, recruiting Koulibaly will make sense.
