Man Utd beat Watford to climb to the fourth place with a game’s advantage over Arsenal, as Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial were on the scoresheet.
Manchester United kicked off the Ole Gunnar Solskjaer era on a winning note as goals from Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial gave the side a 2-1 victory over Watford.
United’s performance throughout the game, however, was underwhelming as Watford looked threatening at times and created significant issues for the United defence.
Doucoure scored a late goal to deny David De Gea a clean sheet, but Watford couldn’t make a comeback in the game despite earning a free-kick in the injury time.
With this win, Manchester United have climbed up to the fourth position in the Premier League. The side, however, holds a game’s advantage over Arsenal who take on Newcastle on Monday night.

United started slowly but finished strongly. Rashford’s goal typical of Solskjaer’s United. Ball moved forward quickly and a clinical finish.

Seven of Marcus Rashford’s 10 Premier League goals this season have come since Ole Gunnar Solskjær took charge.

⚽ 4️⃣ Man Utd players have now scored 10+ PL goals this season (Rashford, Martial, Lukaku & Pogba), the last time they had 4 reach double figures was 1995-96 (Cantona, Cole, Giggs & Scholes) pic.twitter.com/7nJkmIsUPu

Still not convinced Martial is, or ever will be, a top player. On his day he is very good, but those performances are few and far between. He’s 23 now and should be far more consistent, or at least be showing signs he’s heading in the right direction. #MUFC

Pretty forgettable performance. 3 points is all that matters. Good to start with a win for Ole but he won’t be happy with what he saw today. Much work to be done. #mufc
