Man Utd have been spraying garlic on the pitch of Old Trafford as they await the Liverpool clash.
Sky Sports posted a video of groundsman using garlic on the pitch of Old Trafford ahead of the clash against Liverpool.
Manchester United will play Liverpool in a high-intensity Premier League game on Sunday night as they aim to stall their momentum for the title race.
The side is currently fourth in the Premier League table and a loss could push them down to as low as sixth.
The video of garlic being sprayed on the Old Trafford turf became viral almost instantly. Here’s the video:
They’ve had a stinker! 🤪@ManUtd have been spraying garlic on the Old Trafford pitch ahead of their huge clash with @LFC on Sunday.

Before you entertain a conspiracy theory – there’s a very valid reason behind garlic being sprayed on football pitches.
The root vegetable helps prevent the parasites from damaging the roots on the pitch. Various Premier League clubs have been practising the use of garlic for years to retain the quality of the pitch.
Don’t worry – as strong as the garlic smells, Jurgen Klopp won’t be able to use it as an excuse if Liverpool drops points against Manchester United. The smell is not expected to linger around when the game kicks off.
Garlic helps kill bacteria and parasites. Quite appropriate considering who’s visiting Old Trafford on Sunday. 🙃 https://t.co/94XdYf1pB1

The use of garlic has been key to huge improvement in the pitch at Old Trafford over the last five years.
What next?
Liverpool are currently at second in the Premier League table. A win against Manchester United would send them to the top in the league.
GIVE OLE THE JOB ✔️
Gary Neville believes it would be “impossible” for Manchester United not to give Ole Gunnar Solskjaer the permanent manager’s job should they beat Liverpool.

Cantona: “I am not surprised at all (on Solskjaer’s progress). Finally, the club made the right decision, a decision I think they should have made a long time ago.” #mufc

Interestingly, Solskjaer was appointed after Manchester United lost 3-1 to Anfield in December. Since his arrival, United have lost only one game, winning 11 of their 13 matches under his charge.
Moyes; United are underdogs
LVG; if we win against Liverpool I am not more happy than if we had won against West Brom
Mourinho; Not all about this game
Solskjaer; We’re playing Liverpool and we know how big that is for United, for our staff and for our supporters

Eric Cantona on Solskjaer:
“Ole has got the soul of the club, and you feel that he has been inspired by Alex Ferguson. It’s like Johan Cruyff and Pep Guardiola in Barcelona – Ole Gunnar is the spiritual son of Alex Ferguson. So today, seeing United, I am so happy.”

The club also registered its first victory at Stamford Bridge earlier this week since October 2012, when the side defeated Chelsea 2-0 in the fifth round of the FA Cup.
