Bruno Fernandes has confirmed that he would want to play in England.
Bruno Fernandes has confirmed that he would like to play in England, thereby encouraging Manchester United to table a bid.
The Red Devils have been linked with the midfielder, who sees his future away from Sporting CP. Fernandes was wanted by a host of clubs, but they have backed out of the deal, allowing Solskjaer a free run for his signature.
Speaking to Sky Sports reporters ahead of travelling with the rest of the Sporting squad to New York, Portugal international Fernandes said: “I don’t care about the market, I’ve talked about this many times.
“The only thing I can do now is that I need to catch the plane so I don’t miss it. Will this be the last match for Sporting? I don’t know, it’s the coach who decides.
“I told I’d like to play in England, but I don’t care about it right now. If it could be this season? It could be when the club decides, I’m not in charge.”
The 24-year-old new contract last summer plus his tremendous displays throughout the season have increased the price tag for the midfielder. Fernandes will be paid £4.5 million if the Portuguese side turns down a bid of £31 million release clause.
Sporting are demanding an offer of £60 million to secure his signature. But, the Red Devils are not willing to pay that amount who are keen on a reinforcement at the back.
Last season, Fernandes enjoyed the best campaign of his career so far, scoring 32 goals in 50 matches for Sporting. He was also part of the UEFA Nations League final eleven which beat the Netherlands 1-0 to secure the International trophy.
In an interview, Sporting president Frederico Varandas confirmed that the club would not be ready to budge. This comes as an alarm to Manchester United, who are running for his services.
