Man Utd transfer news: Juventus star shuts transfer move to Manchester United

Man Utd transfer news: Juventus star shuts transfer move to Manchester United as Joao Cancelo clarifies that he will remain in Italy.

Manchester United are reportedly targeting defensive reinforcements this summer as Ole Solskjaer suffered a lot due to erroneous defense setup at the club.

Therefore, Manchester United were reportedly seeking to gain the services of Joao Cancelo from Juventus. Since Antonio Valencia’s departure and Solskjaer’s lack of faith in Matteo Darmian compelled Manchester United manager to place Ashley young at the right-back position.

The defensive crisis at the back led to various defeats in recent games against the minnow clubs, latest a 2-0 beating from relegated Cardiff City on last Sunday.

Thus, the Italian defender seemed a viable option in the defense for the Red Devils. Additionally, his reported fallout with Massimiliano Allegri ignited the hopes of the Manchester based club.

However, it looks that the 24-year-old is reluctant to leave Juventus. In an interview to Goal, Cancelo revealed his decision to stay in Italy.

‘I’ve learned a lot this year, I went through many positive moments with fantastic people and friends,’ Cancelo said.

‘I want to stay here, I hope my future is at Juventus – where I hope to win many different trophies.’ he further added.

With this statement, the Portuguese defender has ended the speculations of moving to England this summer. Henceforth, Manchester United needs to look at other prospects to end their defensive concerns.

However, it is a big blow to the Red Devils as they were leading the race of landing the Portuguese. Moreover, Manchester United’s absence from the Champions league next season will lessen Solskjaer’s chances of obtaining his prime targets this summer.
