United U-turn
United had rejected an earlier bid of £64.7m plus £5.3m in add-ons from Inter. They were originally holding out for £80m but have now relented. Much of it, probably has to do with the rapid deterioration of Lukaku’s and Solskjaer’s relationship.

They have further reported that Romelu Lukaku has agreed a five-year deal with Inter worth around £300,000 a week. Romelu Lukaku is now the most expensive Inter Milan player. He will beat the previous record for the Italian club set back in 1999 when Christian Vieri joined from Lazio for €46m (£42.5m).
Lukaku was earlier heading towards Juventus. A swap deal involving him and Paulo Dybala seemed like a done deal. However, the deal fell apart after United backed out following Dybala’s exorbitant demands.

Conte has been a long-time admirer of the Belgian and wanted to get him when he was Chelsea’s manager. However, Mourinho edged Conte to Lukaku’s signatures and Chelsea had to bring in Morata instead. Lukaku had earlier in the year spoken of his desire to play under Conte. He went on to call him the best coach in the world despite never playing under him before. It seems now, that the two will finally unite.
