Man Utd transfer news: Manchester United could consider a club record bid for Premier league defender

Man Utd transfer news: Manchester United could consider a club record bid for Premier league defender as Ole Solsjkaer looks for defensive reinforcements.

Manchester United had an underwhelming campaign this year. With losing out on top-4 race, the Red Devils have nothing to gain in the last match-day.

However, the Manchester United manager have made it clear that the club will look for better prospects in the market this summer as the club requires to make massive changes in the squad.

According to various reports, Manchester United are targeting various quality defenders including Leicester city player Harry Maguire.

The Leicester City defender got appreciation for his exhibits at the World cup in Russia, which led to massive rise in his price last summer. Although, the Red Devils decided to not match the price demand of £60 million by Leicester City as they felt that the player is yet to justify his price tag.

Further, the English International continued his phenomenal form this season as he had a successful campaign in the Premier league with the Foxes.

The Manchester based club at the same time are trying to land Raphael Varane and Matthijs De Ligt, but Manchester United exclusion from the Champions league qualification will surely prevent the arrival of four-time Champions league winner Varane. Additionaly, De Ligt has already refused to join the Red Devils.

Thus, making Maguire a viable target this summer. Whereas, Manchester United have learned from their counterparts as Manchester City invested around £100 million on John Stones and Aymeric Laporte. Meanwhile, Liverpool signed Virgil van Dijk for a record breaking fee for a defender in the Premier league. Both the cases turned out to be successful for both sides.

Thus, Manchester United should try to offload the inferior players, in order to fund the signings of their targets.
