According to FootMercato, Manchester United are ready to make a first offer of €50 million plus bonuses for Lyon striker Moussa Dembele. Despite Lyon president Michel Aulas saying he won’t sanction the sale of Dembele in the winter window, his words have been taken with a pinch of salt; as is evidenced by the fact that he has been heavily linked with a move to Chelsea.
However, while the Blues still have Tammy Abraham upfront, Manchester United are in a more desperate and immediate need for the French striker. Anthony Martial’s performance as a forward has left a lot to be desired especially during the game against Liverpool when he failed to score from an easy chance.
United have Mason Greenwood to rely on, however, his young age, United do not want to burden his development with unnecessary pressure. The report adds that Manchester United tried recruiting Timo Werner before approaching Dembele. However, their advances are quickly spurned by RB Leipzig.
The Red Devils will hope for a better luck with Dembele. However, should they fail to persuade Lyon to sell, the club from Old Trafford will turn their attention on the players that are available on loan to bring at the Old Trafford.
