Man Utd Transfer News: Sir Alex Ferguson baffled at Ed Woodward’s decision over Harry Maguire Transfer. United’s former manager believes that a bid should have been sent sooner.
Manchester United claimed that they would overhaul their side last season. However, with just a little over one month of transfer season left, United have only added two players to their squad; Daniel James from Swansea and Wan Bissaka from Crystal Palace.

United are still looking to add at least 3 more players to their side. They are in the hunt for 2 more mid-fielders and a centre back. The two midfielders are most likely, Bruno Fernandes of Sporting Lisbon and Sean Longstaff from Newcastle United. However, who they want as a centre back is beyond doubt. Harry Maguire of Leicester City is United’s primary target to help shore their defence.
Ferguson wants Maguire at Old Trafford
Manchester United Legend, Sir Alex Ferguson though, is perplexed with the manner in which his transfer has been handled by the higher ups at Old Trafford. Ferguson believes United should do all they can to sign the 26-year-old and is bewildered as as to why United did not make an offer for Maguire sooner. United saw their £70 million bid rejected by Leicester at the start of the week. Leicester value the former Hull defender at at least £80m.
Records and replacements
Manchester City are also in the race for Maguire’s signatures but may walk away from the massive price tag. MEN have reported that United do not want to be ‘outbid’ for targets and City have previously ended their interest in players over high asking prices.

If United go through with the deal, they will smash the world record transfer fee for a defender, held by £75m Liverpool star Virgil van Dijk at the moment. The club do have alternatives in case they fail to nab Maguire though; West Ham’s Issa Diop and Real Madrid’s Raphael Varane being a couple of names.
