Man Utd Transfer News: Solskjaer offers world record £80m for Harry Maguire. The Norwegian hopes that he will help improve Manchester United’s lacklustre defense.
Manchester United manager Ola Gunnar Solksjaer has been a very busy man this transfer season. He has been tasked with rebuilding a punctured United side while having to deal with the tantrums of his 3 biggest stars who are looking for a way out of Old Trafford.

Solksjaer is with the team on a pre-season tour of Australasia and is still fielding questions over Pogba. However, that hasn’t stopped them from trying to bolster their side. According to recent reports Manchester United have made a bid for Harry Maguire that meets Leicester’s valuation of £80 million. However, the bid will be worth £60m upfront and £20m in add ons.
Ian McGarry and Times journalist Duncan Castles have reported the news on the Transfer Window Podcast.
Speaking to Castles, McGarry said:
“We’ll start with news of a renewed offer from Manchester United to Leicester City for Harry Maguire.”
“It still doesn’t quite match Leicester’s expectations because the upfront payment is £60m with £20m in add ons. Which of course takes it up to Leicester’s expected valuation of the player at £80m, but it doesn’t take it to the £80m upfront which we understand Leicester are hoping for.”
Castles responded by saying that he didn’t think that Leicester would be able to reject United’s latest offer before adding that they would however have to wait to see how the Foxes respond.
Manchester United conceded 54 Premier League goals last season. They will be hoping that Maguire will help tighten their defense. To that end United have also bought in young right back Aaron Wan-Bissaka. The Old Trafford will now wait for Leicester’s response with bated breath.
