Man Utd Transfer News: Solskjaer to rival Manchester City for Premier League star's signature

Man Utd Transfer News: Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is reportedly eyeing a deal for Leicester City defender Harry Maguire.

Manchester United are planning to rebuild the side, and Harry Maguire could be brought into the roster. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been vocal about the necessity of incomings and Harry Maguire does suit the bill.

The English International is subjected to interest from Manchester City for the second summer transfer window on a trot, after Jose Mourinho was keen to bring him to Old Trafford, irrespective of the price tag. The Foxes slapped with a 70 million price tag last summer and the board was not keen to lure him to Old Trafford for that amount.

However, an amount worth 75 million could tempt Brendan Rodgers to sell his key defender, according to the Express. With Eric Bailly, Phil Jones, Chris Smalling, and Victor Lindelof in the ranks, Harry Maguire will be a huge upgrade on those defenders.

It will be an interesting summer as Harry Maguire is also attracting interest from the Blues side of Manchester, Manchester City. Pep Guardiola has already eyed the defender as a possible replacement for the outgoing Skipper Vincent Kompany at the Etihad Stadium.

It would take more than what Liverpool paid for Virgil Van Dijk to land Harry Maguire, but Manchester United and Manchester City will do everything to land him this summer. As things stand, the English International could be the costliest defender in the summer transfer window should the Manchester clubs act swiftly.

The Red Devils hierarchy are also keen on a goalkeeper, midfielder, and a right-winger. The signing of Daniel James is close to completion after personal terms agreement, whilst the transfer fee is not yet resolved. Newcastle United youngster Sean Longstaff is another player on Man United’s shortlist.
