Man Utd Transfer News: Solskjaer's first move for David De Gea's replacement turned down

Ajax have reportedly turned down an offer from Manchester United for their goalkeeper Andre Onana.

Manchester United’s rebuilding process will take place under their new manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. The Norwegian was appointed on a permanent basis in April, but there has been a recent slump in their form.

During this poor spell, David De Gea has not helped his course by making an abundance of mistakes week in week out. The Spanish International is yet to put pen to paper as his contract expires in 2020. The Red Devils shot-stopper is set to have rejected many contracts which have made the club to look elsewhere.

Ajax shot-stopper Andre Onana is one among the many candidates attracting interest from the English outfit. The Cameroonian International is currently spending his third year with the club after breaking through the La Masia. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s €35 million bid was turned down by Ajax, according to the reliable Duncan Castles.

Onana has kept astonishing 26 clean sheets in all competitions this term. It is certainly down his brilliance by shutting down the opponent’s attack albeit possessing the likes of Matthijs De Ligt and Nicolas Tagliafico in the backline. He is a brilliant shot-stopper, but the broach about his foot has been brought into consideration at times. He is not a modern-day goalkeeper, who is ridiculously good with his foot like the Brazilian duo Ederson and Allison.

The Ajax shot-stopper is contracted until 2022 with the club and an offer around 30 million is totally not justifiable. It would require at least ten million more to acquire his services.

With that refusal, the Red Devils have turned their attentions to Jasper Cillessen. The Dutch International is currently playing understudy to Marc Andre Ter Stegen at Barcelona.

In advance, Manchester United was turned down by Ajax Skipper Matthijs De Ligt. The Dutch International is accessing his options as Barcelona, Liverpool, Juventus, and Bayern Munich show intense interest in the young defender.

What’s next?

Manchester United will have to wait until the FA Cup final to learn their fate. If Watford manage to beat Manchester City, the Red Devils will have to play the Qualifying round of the Europa League.
