Inter Milan have fallen short of Manchester United’s valuation for the striker Romelu Lukaku.
Manchester United have turned down a bid from Inter Milan for the striker Romelu Lukaku. The Red Devils, who value him at €83.5m, have turned down an offer which was €13.5 million short of the Italian side’s offer.
Inter Milan’s Sporting Director Piero Ausilio was in London to discuss a potential move for Belgium striker on Thursday, but no solution was found because of the €13.5 million variances in the transfer fee, as per the Guardian. The player is keen to move away from Old Trafford and join Antonio Conte, who he regards as the best manager in the world.
“It was an official approach between two important clubs. We’ll see what happens. “All the players we’re following are targets we’ve agreed with Antonio Conte.” said Ausilio after the meeting in London.
On the other hand, the new Inter Milan manager does not want to miss out him at any cost, making him the number one priority and Conte wants him as soon as possible to join for the pre-season camp. Inter’s first payment was €10 million this year, followed by €30 million over the next two years.
The Belgian international has fallen down the pecking order under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, who has set his sight on Marcus Rashford deploying as the first striker at the club. This has frustrated Lukaku, who is searching for regular game time elsewhere. He managed to score 27 goals during his first season with the club, but his tally lessened to just 15, which is majorly down to the irregular game time after Solskjaer’s appointment in December.
The former Chelsea striker moved for a fee of £75 million plus £15 million add-ons from Everton in 2017. The Red Devils are looking to recoup the same deal, rather than selling him for an unprofitable amount. After turning down the offer, Inter Milan are yet to the decision if they would come back with a huge offer – satisfying the Red Devils’ terms.
