Man Utd vs PSG: Manchester United will host Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League later tonight.
Manchester United will take on PSG in the round-of-16 of the Champions League later tonight. The side is on a brilliant run under Solskjaer, having won ten of the 11 games under his charge so far.
Solskjaer suggested in the pre-match conference that the side is preparing for the biggest European night at Old Trafford in five years.
Manchester United failed to qualify in the Champions League on two occasions since Sir Alex Ferguson’s retirement.
While Bayern Munich drew 1-1 at Old Trafford in the 2013/14 season, the game against Real Madrid in Sir Alex’s final season was marred by a red card for Nani after the hosts were leading 1-0 in the second half.
Man Utd vs PSG: Sir Alex Ferguson’s message
The Norwegian interim manager admitted that Old Trafford lacked a ‘big European night’ for quite a few years.
Yeah, it has been,” Solskjaer accepted. “Maybe if you look back, I look back at one of the last few exciting knockout games, we lost to Real Madrid, Nani was sent off, we had Bayern Munich a few years ago [in 2014], so we’re looking forward to this.
“It felt like the old United was back.” 💪

To put it into perspective, Manchester United are more confident about beating the champions of France, PSG, this season under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer than they were beating 4th placed Sevilla under Jose Mourinho.

“Both the supporters and the players have been looking forward to some of these nights, because they’re special. My last was when we beat Roma 7-1, I came on. Typical Old Trafford night!”
Manchester United lost the first-leg 2-1 but came back in an emphatic fashion in the second-leg at Old Trafford. Ferguson’s men registered a crushing 7-1 victory over the Italian side.
Solskjaer revealed what Sir Alex Ferguson told the Manchester United squad after the defeat in the first leg.
“We lost 2-1 away from home and the manager was so happy. He said, ‘We’ll be all right, we’ll win at home’. He was so confident in our abilities.
De Gea: “Everyone feels good with him (Solskjaer), he wants us to enjoy ourselves on the pitch, that we are just ourselves and that is what we are in the process of doing with these victories. For us, it is magnificent.” #mufc
