Manchester City complete the signing of Bernardo Silva for 43 million pounds
The transfer window might not have officially opened, but Pep Guardiol’s side have already made a big statement, as Manchester City complete the signing of Bernardo Silva for 43 million pounds. After weeks of speculation, Silva has finally made his choice, as he chose the blue half of Manchester over the red half.
Silva was being courted by all the top clubs in world football. He was one of the stars of a youthful Monaco side, which won the Ligue 1 title last season. He particularly shone in the Champions League, when Monaco surprisingly reached the last four of the prestigious competition.

The midfield schemer was particularly impressive, as Monaco dumped Manchester City out of the Champions League at the last 16 stage. While he was expected to join a big club this summer, his decision to join Man City has taken everyone by surprise.
Rumors were circulating that Silva was one of Manchester United’s prime transfer targets in the summer. He had apparently held talks with Jose Mourinho’s side, and a move to Old Trafford seemed imminent.
Those rumors gathered a head of steam, when Silva was seen leaving for Manchester earlier in the morning. But Pep Guardiola managed to steal Silva right under Jose’s nose, as the Portuguese midfielder signed with Man City late last evening.
“It feels great. To be honest I’m now at one of the best teams in the world. To be part of this club and to have this opportunity is great.
“I’m very happy to be part of Manchester City’s team and I look forward to trying to do my best to help the team reach their goals.
This is what he said about Pep Guardiola.
“If not the best coach in the world, he is one of the best.
“Of course when you have the opportunity of being trained by Guardiola, you don’t say no.
“As we all know, what he did in Barcelona and Bayern Munich was amazing and we expect also here that he will win titles.
“It’s great to be working with him and to have this opportunity.”
