The inflated prices in the transfer window does not seem to have deterred the elite clubs in Europe from splashing out the cash. Players as young as 19,20 and 21 have a price tag of over 60 million pounds attached to them by their respective clubs.

While Kylian Mbaape is the hottest property in the transfer market right now, another young French talent has attracted a lot of suitors this summer.

Borussia Dortmund’s Ousmane Dembele had a superb season in Germany, with the flying winger scoring both goals and providing a bucket full of assists. His displays were eye catching and resulted in a spot in both the Bundesliga team of the year as well as the UEFA Breakthrough XI of the year.

While Dembele has many clubs interested in him, the club that he dreams of is FC Barcelona. Barcelona made their interest in him quite public as they submitted an initial 40 million euros for the French star. But Dortmund refused it out of hand as they are hoping for something close to 60 million.

Barcelona then upped their offer to 70 million, but this time it was shockingly snubbed by Dembele himself. Apparently, the young French star does not intend to become a squad player at Barcelona, as he will not find it possible to dislodge any of the MSN trio at the Nou Camp.

This has alerted the cash rich Premier League clubs, as both Manchester United and Chelsea have submitted bids in the region of 80 million euros as they try and tempt Dembele towards England.

While there is no doubt Dembele would surely improve both their squads, it remains to be seen what the French boy would want for himself. As of now, he is only guaranteed a starting position if he stays at Dortmund, which is why he might consider staying put.

But then again, the big clubs may not come calling again!
