Manchester United are impressed with the 22-year old defender and are eyeing him as an alternative to Toby Alderweireld.
United manager Jose Mourinho has identified Sevilla star Clement Lenglet as a “cut-price alternative” to Toby Alderweired. The £31m star is already on radar for FC Barcelona.
Manchester United are considering a bid in the region of £55m for Toby Alderweireld. However, French defender Clement Lenglet has impressed Jose Mourinho and the club might turn to him.
Lenglet has delivered strong performances for Sevilla at the back in a season which saw the club reaching the Champions League quarterfinals.
The Frenchman impressed the Sevilla faithful last season as he was a first-team regular in the defence. Lenglet made 48 appearances for Sevilla the previous season.
Jose Mourinho faced problems with consistency in the defence. With regular injuries throughout the season for Bailly and Rojo, Smalling and Jones were the regular starters for the club. United was sloppy in the defence as they dropped points against the lower ranked sides in the Premier League table.
Manchester United are reportedly planning for an overhaul this summer, which might eat a lot of their budget. According to Mirror, Manchester United are also preparing a bid in the region of £100m, and hence Jose Mourinho is keen on signing the much lesser-priced Lenglet.
