Manchester United had the second best defensive record last season in Premier League. They just conceded one more goal to their rival and league winner, Manchester City’s 28 goals. Yet this season United Manager Jose Mourinho is keen on boosting their defensive line even more.

Mourinho has already signed Brazilian midfielder Fred and reports suggest that he is closing in on defender Diogo Dalot from Porto.

Latest in this list is Clement Lenglet from France who plays for Sevilla as center back. Clement was part of Sevilla XI who knocked out United in Champions League round of 16, last season.

Manchester United are launching a bid of 31 million euros for 22 year old Frenchmen and they will have to act fast as Barcelona are also moving to acquire him, reported French news outlet L’Equipe.

Clement Lenglet arrived at Sevilla in January 2017 from French club Nancy and still has  3 years in his contract with Los Hispalenses. Clement has a release clause of 30.7 million euros and United will not blink twice to pay that.

Clement’s manager Gregory Dakad told Estadio Deprotivo,

“Nothing has been decided. Clement is on holiday at the moment and he will not make a decision on his future until he speaks with the new Coach [Pablo Machin, who has arrived from Girona]. We want to respect Sevilla and there is no update yet.”

United have already have 6 defenders at their disposal but their manager Jose Mourinho is in need of a central defender who can restore some composure on the ball.

Clement can be that player for United as he is considered as one of the most promising defenders in Europe.
