Manchester United have reignited their interest on Ivan Perisic.
Manchester United are in a great position to finish in the top four. Following an inconsistent start under Jose Mourinho who was sacked after losing the game against Liverpool in mid-December, the English outfit have been performing at their best.
Having won seven out of seven and play the way the players want to, the Old Trafford faithful are currently witnessing an attacking minded team which likes to take the game to the opponent half.
Following the summer of Romelu Lukaku in 2017, there were various reports quoting that the former Manchester manager Jose Mourinho was close to signing Ivan Perisic from Inter Milan. The Croatian International has been one of the best performers for the Italian outfit over the last few years.
According to the Italian publication Gazzetta Dello Sport, the Red Devils have reignited their interest on Ivan Perisic. The report also adds on that both the clubs are in the initial stages of the negotiations.
The forward who turns 30 in a week has been placed in the transfer list by Luciano Spalleti. The Italian outfit will not rule a potential exit now, or in the summer transfer window.
Gazzetta adds on that there has been concrete interest from Manchester United. However, there has been no offers yet, but the suggestion is that the deal could get completed in the near future.
Since Ivan Perisic operates through the left wing, it makes very less sense to go for the Croatian International as Manchester United have Anthony Martial and Alexis Sanchez capable of playing through the left flank.
Even though the Inter Milan forward has the ability to play through the right flank, the Red Devils will be cautious about making a move because he does not have age at his side. Additionally, the intensity of the Premier League is much higher than compared to the Serie A which can come back to haunt them.
With Anthony Martial and David De Gea next in the line to sign a new contract, welcoming Ivan Perisic would only put Manchester United in trouble because of the higher wage demands.
The report also encloses that Atletico Madrid are also monitoring the situation. Deigo Simeone is a fan of the 29-year-old who has been one of the integral players in San Siro.
Several reports claim that the Nerazzurri are looking to lure one of Luka Modric or Sergej Milinkovic-Savic to San Siro in the forthcoming transfer. Ivan Perisic’s departure would fund the Italian outfit.
