Manchester United team news vs Everton

TheSportsRush brings Manchester United team news vs Everton, as Mourinho’s side aims to return to winning ways at Old Trafford.

Manchester United have had a rough start to their season. Jose Mourinho’s side is currently 10th in the Premier League with only 14 points from 9 games.

United slumped to defeat in their Champions League clash against Juventus, as a goal from Dybala was enough to separate the two sides. Mourinho’s men have won only 1 of their last seven games across all competitions.

As United hosts Everton in the Premier League this weekend, Jose Mourinho would aim to return to winning ways. In their last two games in the league, Manchester United’s performances have been relatively better, as the side came back from behind to win 3-2 against Newcastle, and held Maurizio Sarri’s Chelsea to a 2-2 draw.

As Old Trafford hosts the Merseyside club this week, Jose Mourinho provided the team update for the match.

Manchester United team news vs Everton:

Jose Mourinho interacted with media for the pre-match conference on Friday at Carrington. The Portuguese manager talked about the extent of the injury to one of their first-team starters, Jesse Lingard.

“Yes, he came from the World Cup [with England] with that problem,” said Mourinho.

“He thought wrongly that the holiday period would bring things to normality. Then he thought wrongly that keep working or start working with the team would improve the situation and then he felt in an impossible situation to play football.

“So now he’s going back and doing the work to try to be 100 percent [fit] and, in this moment, he’s almost there, because of the team’s needs.”

Mourinho also addressed the possibility of Lingard returning for the game against Everton.

“Can he help us in the next match [against Everton]? That’s the question we have to answer tomorrow [Saturday] or if we wait one more week and give one more week of stability to the work, so he can be back next week. So, he’s almost there,” said Mourinho.

Mourinho stated that Alexis Sanchez will remain unavailable for the game on Sunday, as would be Diogo Dalot. Scott McTominay, however, has recovered well and could be in contention to play.
