Manchester United tweet for Robin van Persie: The club paid tribute to Dutch forward as van Persie stated that he would retire at the end of the season.
Former Manchester United star and Dutch footballer Robin van Persie is set to retire at the end of the season. van Persie played a key role in regaining the Premier League trophy with Manchester United from city-rivals Man City in his first season at the club.
Robin van Persie spent three seasons at Old Trafford, before leaving for Fenerbahce. He scored 58 goals in 105 appearances for Manchester United. In his first season at the club, he struck the net on 26 occasions in the Premier League, scoring 30 goals across all competitions.
van Persie is also the top goal-scorer for the Netherlands, scoring 50 goals in 102 appearances. He played a key role in the country’s World Cup campaign in 2014, where the side reached the semifinal of the tournament, and eventually finished third.
As Robin van Persie hangs up his boots, Manchester United came up with a short video as a tribute to the forward.

He made an instant impact and led the club to its 20th league title, and the last under Sir Alex Ferguson, who retired after the end of the season.

He talked about his retirement during an interview with Dutch publication, AD.
Robin van Persie will retire at the end of this season. By the end of it, he will have near 700 career appearances and 400 goal involvements (including 300+ goals scored).
