Manchester United withdraw interest from Matthijs De Ligt amidst interest from Barcelona | Man Utd transfer news

Manchester United reportedly has withdrawn interest from Matthijs De Ligt as the club faces massive competition from other giant clubs.

It was earlier being reported that Manchester United are close to make a £65 million deal with Ajax to hire the services of Matthijs De Ligt.

Further, it was suggested that with downhill in negotiations between Barcelona and Dutch International’s agent Mino Riola brought Manchester United at the forefront in the pursuit of the player.

The Dutch center-back seems as a necessity buy for the Red Devils, as the underwhelming resources in the defense for Manchester United have costed them a top-4 finish in the Premier league this season.

However, in recent developments, it is revealed by the SkySports that Manchester United have withdrawn the interest they held in De Ligt.

The reason being reported is that the Manchester United administration feel that the 19-year-old player is close to sign a deal with the Catalan giants and the English club thought that they were just used as a mean by Matthijs De Ligt to milk the best deal out of Barcelona.

Therefore, Manchester United does not think it as appropriate to keep holding onto negotiations, where they possibly do not have anything to gain.

On the other hand, De Ligt’s negotiations at Barcelona are still halt as the Blaugranas are refusing to meet the demands of the Dutch International due to over-burdened wage bills.

Although, with all the European clubs abandoning their interests in De Light, it seems that Barcelona and the Ajax defender have to make a compromise.
