Manoj Tiwary passes massive statement on MS Dhoni's retirement from international cricket

Tiwary passes massive statement on MS Dhoni’s retirement: Axed Indian batsman was recently vocal about the veteran cricketer.

Former India captain and current wicket-keeper batsman Mahendra Singh Dhoni is at a stage in his career where every new day brings a new retirement rumour. Dhoni recently making himself unavailable for the tour of West Indies has further played the role of fuel to his retirement fire.

While plentiful cricketers have shared their suggestions regarding Dhoni’s retirement, the legendary cricketer seems to be unperturbed with the same. In a recent interview with The Times of India, axed India batsman Manoj Tiwary recently opined about the selectors needing to take a tough call regarding Dhoni.

“[MS] Dhoni has done a lot for our country. He has made a lot of contributions to this team. Recently, Sachin Tendulkar said that it’s time for Dhoni to side-line himself, he has played a lot.

“Though Virat Kohli has said that the team needs Dhoni, I feel that the selectors need to take a tough call. It’s time to show courage and it’s necessary to take the step,” Tiwary was quoted as saying.

Tiwary, who last played for India in 2015, also threw light on Dhoni’s mediocre form in the recent times. While the 38-year old cricketer has scored runs at a decent average, it is him consuming a lot of deliveries in the middle overs which has brought severe criticism to his side.

“Of late, Dhoni’s performance has significantly gone down. I wouldn’t have said this had it been only for an innings or two. I’m not sure if the selectors are giving Dhoni chances based on the past.

“There are a number of talented cricketers in our country and they should get chances. The Indian team isn’t anyone’s personal property. It’s a team of the nation and that needs to be kept in mind,” Tiwary said.
