Mason Mount injury update: Will Mason Mount play for Chelsea vs Crystal Palace in the Premier League this weekend.

Chelsea manager Frank Lampard has been named the manager of the month of October. This achievement comes at the backdrop of a young side that have succeeded despite all odds being stacked against them. However, one of the architects of Chelsea’s success is currently facing injury concerns.

Breakout starlet Mason Mount was taken off during their Champions League match vs Ajax earlier this week with what looked like a serious ankle injury. This left the fans sweating over his fitness considering how vital he has been for the blues this season.

However, surprisingly, the youngster has been named in Chelsea’s squad for the match against Crystal Palace this weekend. Whether he will play or not though, is still open to speculation. It will still come as a relief to the fans though, that the injury is not as serious as it once seemed.

Mason Mount may play, Barkley set to miss

Speaking ahead of the Premier League match, Frank Lampard was asked questions regarding Mason Mount and injury update if any that were plaguing the club. Lampard then confirmed that the youngster had made the squad. However, he will undergo fitness tests to determine how many minutes will he be able to play. Although there are others who will not feature in the team on the weekend.

“Ross has an ongoing issue so he is not in the squad tomorrow,” Lampard told reporters. “It is a conversation I will have with Gareth and Ross and everyone to see how it pans out over the next ten days.

“I am not sure on that one, he won’t be in our squad.

“With Mason he is in the squad, we will give him 24 hours and make a call on that in the morning.”

Antonio Rudiger’s return has suffered a setback with Lampard informing that the centreback will be out for a few more weeks after his surgery on his troublesome groin.

‘He had an operation, he is out for three weeks and then we will see about his match fitness.

‘Hopefully in three weeks’ time we will know more. You do well to cope without big players.’
