Jasper Cillessen has claimed that he offered advice to Matthijs De Ligt. The Ajax Skipper has been linked with a potential move to Barcelona, although Manchester United remain interested.
The Dutch shot-stopper, who wants to leave the club in summer, said: “I sat down with him [De Ligt] to talk about all the options but I did the same with Frenkie [de Jong].
“I told him that the decision belongs to him. Matthijs is a good boy and he knows what he has to do.
“I talked to him but also told him that I cannot make the decision for him. He knows what he has to do.
“I can only talk about the good things about Barcelona because they are a great club and I have great feelings for them.” said Cillessen.
Juventus and Paris Saint Germain are the other two clubs interested in signing the young centre-back, although Barcelona remain in the driving seat till date. His agent Mino Raiola is set to be demanding more compensation, which has put off Barcelona currently.
On the other hand, Manchester United and Juventus are willing to match his wages to lure him away from Johan Cryuff Stadium. Liverpool and Paris Saint Germain have also been thrown in the mix, but they are unlikely to sign a centre-back for a high fee currently.
It will be an interesting summer as many clubs are in a rebuilding process. The Dutch International is yet to make up his decision as many clubs circle him for his signature.
