Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri shall be replaced by Ex-Liverpool manager ‘at any cost’ says Paul Merson as the Italian’s future in Chelsea is uncertain.
Despite securing the Champions league qualification and reaching to the final of the Europa league, Chelsea fans are not delighted with this season’s results.
The Italian manager has been criticized for his tactics and team selection several times this season. Thus, it is doubtful that whether Sarri will stay or leave for Italy.
However, the Chelsea manager is still highly reputed in Italy and Roma are at the forefront to gain the services of Sarri.
Whereas, ex-Arsenal player Paul Merson said that Chelsea should pursue Brendan Rodgers if Sarri leaves the London based club.
The Irishman, who almost won the Premier league for Liverpool in 2004, returned to England in February to manage Leicester City.
Since Rodgers has a newly signed contract with the Foxes, thus any effort to buy him out of his contract will prove costly. However, Merson in an interview with Starsport feels that Chelsea should gain his services at any cost, if a need to sign a manager occurs.
“Chelsea missed a trick not getting Brendan Rodgers and they should go back in for him this summer if Maurizio Sarri goes,” he told Starsport.
“They should pay whatever it costs to get him because he is a perfect fit for Chelsea. He knows the club, plays good football, and is used to the pressure of managing in a tough environment.” said Merson.
Since his arrival, Brendan Rodgers have managed to make his players perform, as Jamie Vardy has been phenomenal in recent matches including his brace against Arsenal.

Same Rodgers who barely played Moses at Liverpool & Musonda at Celtic? But he gives “younger players a chance”
2 players we’ve sent on loan to clubs managed by him?

He’s got a point… you can’t use the argument “what has he won” because sarri has won the exact same, and it’s proven that Rodgers gives youth a chance, which is what us as fans are crying out for. Took sarri till April to actually start CHO. Have rarely enjoyed watching us.
