Maurizio Sarri might be sacked

Maurizio Sarri’s future at Chelsea hangs in the air.

Maurizio Sarri and Chelsea were hanging with Liverpool and Manchester City during the early stages of the season by scoring tons of goals and securing points with ease. But, there has been a major slump which has had an enormous effect on the results and the players.

Currently sitting sixth in the Premier League table, Chelsea were whitewashed 4-0 by Bournemouth at Vitality Stadium, before being heavily beaten by Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City who beat Maurizio Sarri’s side 6-0 last week.

Before the game against Huddersfield Town, Sarri asked his players to improve their mentality to gain good results in the forthcoming weeks.

“Not in the past [have I managed a team that’s so inconsistent],” he told reporters.

“But my target is to improve the mentality, because if we improve the mentality, I think it will be easier to arrive into every match with the right level of application and determination.

“It is not easy, of course, and it is a long way but we need to try to improve in mentality. In every training, in every match, but we need to improve.”

Even though the game against the Terries resulted in a 5-0 victory, the Italian International was humiliated by Manchester City in the preceding week which has cast doubt among Chelsea fans about Maurizio Sarri’s methods which is not paying off lately.

It is also understood that Blues chairman Bruce Buck was also in attendance for Sarri’s pre-match press conference prior to the Europa League clash against Malmo.

According to the reliable publication The Times, it is understood that Chelsea will be prepared to sack their manager if Sarri fails to qualify for the Champions League next term.

Chelsea are sixth in the Premier League table, separated by just goal difference from Arsenal. With the Europa League kicking off this week, the London outfit will be serious about the competition as the winners will directly qualify for the group stages of the Champions League next campaign.

Arsenal have been hit and a miss over the last few weeks and Manchester United are currently having a great revival under the management of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer who are sitting fourth in the table.

Chelsea will face Manchester United in the FA Cup fifth round. Even if Chelsea lift this accolade and fail to qualify for the Champions League, Sarri will be relieved from his duties.
