Mesut ozil makes an outrageous performance against Liverpool in League Cup match

Mesut Ozil makes an outrageous performance against Liverpool to embark the third goal by the Gunners, as well a backheel assist.

Arsenal and Liverpool are having a great encounter in the League cup match, as both sides have combined scored 10 goals to give it a complicated turn in this game.

Amidst all of this, Mesut Ozil has been splendid in this game and been making some fluent passes and holding the game efficiently in the middle of the park.

Whilst doing this, the German midfielder makes a stunning touch for his side’s third goal of the night. He quickly latched onto a stray past and deftly set-up Bukayo Saka who squared the ball to Gabriel Martinelli who found the back of the net from close range.

Further, the ex-Real Madrid playmaker brilliantly pulled off a backheel to keep the ball from going out of play and directing it into the path of Maitland-Niles, who buried it into the back of the Chelsea net.

Ozil was missing from Arsenal’s squad since last 6 games and have only made 1 appearance for the Gunners in the Premier League. Finally, Unai Emery granted him a start tonight and he clearly did not disappoint.

Meanwhile, Arsenal went onto have a 3 -1 lead in the game, even though they were stunned by an early own goal in the game. Currently, the score stands as 4-5 in the favour of Arsenal, as the drama unfolds at the Anfield.

Honestly, the defensive set up by both the sides has been disappointing, as 9 goals within the 70 minutes are atrocious. Certainly, Liverpool is missing Virgil Van Dijk, who is rested for this game, as he picked up a knock against Tottenham Hotspurs.

Meanwhile, Arsenal’s defence has remained sub-par this season, and the horrendous own-goal by Shkodran Mustafi is the prime example behind this.
