Very often in the past, Spanish club FC Barcelona have been linked with defenders, and in particular defenders on the right-side of the pitch.

This transfer season, however, the Catalan giants not only put the issue of a right-back away with the signing of the Portuguese defender Nelson Semedo, but they also bought a midfielder in the form of Brazilian Paulinho.

While the critics appreciated the signing of the Portuguese full-back, they buried the Brazilian in heavy criticism.

However, to the surprise of the critics, the Brazilian has had an excellent start to his career in Spain, with four goals in La Liga, while walking the park in the midfield.

As per the latest reports from a Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona has targeted the German midfielder Mesut Ozil. Mundo Deportivo claims Ozil’s representative Dr Erkut Sogut is already holding talks with the Catalan giants over a winter switch to the Nou Camp.

It is also said that the midfielder is interested in a switch to the Catalan club for a price of 20 million euros.

Contract till 2020:

Dr Sogut has also allegedly told Barcelona that Ozil would like a contract taking him to 2020, although there are no reports about his wage demands.

Despite an interest from out of the blue, it looks like Ernesto Valverde’s side are the best destination for a move for the midfielder, who has been heavily criticized in the last season or so by the English media.

The German midfielder Ozil has been in the critic’s books’ for Arsenal’s losses, be it at home or away from home. Arsenal seemed to be willing to cash in on the midfielder, while still in his contract at North London.

Arsenal’s head-coach and boss as he is referred to has failed to convince the midfielder to sign a new contract. It would be interesting to see where the left-footed midfielder would feature in the Barcelona playing XI.
