Top seed PV Sindhu continued her fine form to pick up yet another victory as she reached the semi finals of the S yed Modi International in Lucknow. (Syed Modi International : Sameer Verma and PV Sindhu come up trumps !)

Sindhu faced the 17 year old qualifier from India, Vaidehi Choudhari as she comfortably won 21-15, 21-11 in just under half an hour. The youngster was no match to the Rio Olympics Silver Medalist as she learned a valuable lesson in the art of badminton from the best seat in the house.

This win sends PV Sindhu into the semi finals where she will face the fourth seed Fitriani Fitriani. This will be the first time that Sindhu faces a non Indian in a major tournament match. (Syed Modi International : Sameer Verma and PV Sindhu come up trumps !)

The Indonesian ace Fitriani Fitriani won a thrilling match against home town player Rituparna Das. Fitriani broke the hearts of the watching audience as she beat Das 21-17, 13-21, 23-21 with the match lasting close to an hour.

The highlight of the night however was the performance of Sameer Verma who beat second seed Hans-Kristian Vittinghus 21-15, 21-13 in the biggest upset of the tournament so far. (Syed Modi International : Sameer Verma and PV Sindhu come up trumps !)

Sameer, who was runners up at the Hong Kong Open just a few months back shocked the world as he comfortably brushed aside his much fancied opponent. This win took Sameer Verma along with two other Indians into the semi finals. (Syed Modi International : Sameer Verma and PV Sindhu come up trumps !)

This guarantees a medal for the India in the male singles category. Sameer Verma will now face Harsheel Dani in the semi finals of the Syed Modi Interntaional.

All eye will now be on the semi finals !
