records which CSK captain can break in IPL 2019

records which CSK captain can break in IPL 2019: Sportrush presents before you four records which MS Dhoni can break in IPL 2019.

There is no denying to the fact that Chennai Super Kings captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni has been an absolute legend in both international cricket and the Indian Premier League. In 175 IPL matches, Dhoni has scored 4,016 runs at an average of 40.16 and a strike rate of 138.19.

As a captain, Dhoni has led CSK to title victories in three seasons (2010, 2011, 2018). Dhoni’s contribution to his team isn’t only restricted to his batting or captaincy. The veteran cricketer has done an astute job behind the wickets for over a decade.

The sheer fact that Dhoni has been batting, wicket-keeping and captaining the side successfully for so many years speaks highly about his impact in the cash-rich tournament. Dhoni features among the top players of the tournament across divisions.

Having said that, there still are a few records which he would be looking to break in the imminent IPL 2019. Some of them are:

Most runs

With 4,016 runs to his name, Dhoni is currently at the seventh position in the list of highest run-scorers in the tournament. Having scored 4,985 runs in 175 matches, Super Kings vice-captain Suresh Raina currently tops the list.

While topping the list seems a distant reality for Dhoni, he has a fair chance of surpassing the other four batsmen in Rohit Sharma (4,493), Gautam Gambhir (4,217), Robin Uthappa (4,129) and Shikhar Dhawan (4,058). With Sharma, Uthappa and Dhawan also playing the tournament, surpassing Gambhir (201) gives Dhoni a finite number as this point in time.

Most sixes

When it will come to most sixes in the IPL at the end of IPL 2019, the tournament is highly likely to witness a tightly-fought contest. Strangely enough, the contender at the first spot is fixed and will retain his position irrespective of the outcome of the tournament.

With a whopping 292 sixes in 112 matches, Kings XI Punjab opening batsman Chris Gayle sits at the top of the ladder at this point in time. The reason why no one stands a chance against him is the fact that he has a lead of 105 sixes from the batsman at No. 2 – AB de Villiers (187).

Dhoni, who has scored 186 sixes in the IPL, will be seen fighting this battle alongside de Villiers, Suresh Raina (185), Rohit Sharma (184), Virat Kohli (177) and to some extent David Warner (160).

Most dismissals by a wicket-keeper

In 175 matches, Dhoni has affected 116 dismissals (83 catches and 33 stumping dismissals) behind the wickets. The 37-year old cricketer sits at the second spot at this point in time. The leader of this list is Kolkata Knight Riders captain Dinesh Karthik who has affected 124 dismissals (94 catches and 30 stumping dismissals) in 168 matches in his IPL career.

With KKR top-order batsman Robin Uthappa (90 dismissals in 165 matches) not expected to keep wickets like last year, one believes that this contest will primarily be fought between Karthik and Dhoni. It is worth mentioning that Dhoni has the most stumping dismissals in the IPL.

Most sixes for Chennai Super Kings

Out of Dhoni’s 186 IPL sixes, 156 have been hit with him playing for CSK. Currently at No. 2, Dhoni trails by six sixes from none other than his vice-captain in Suresh Raina (162). In a bid to overdo the southpaw, Dhoni will have to do exceedingly well as far as hitting sixes will be concerned in the IPL 2019.
